Our ideology is rooted in the belief that the soul of India lives in its villages. Guided by Swami Vivekananda, we strive to awaken the strength, dignity, and divinity of every villager.

We believe that education and knowledge are the strongest tools for transformation. Once enlightened, it becomes one’s moral duty to uplift others with the gospel of truth, humanity, and universal brotherhood.

GBSS works to evolve citizens with strong value systems so that prosperity, peace, and sustainable development can take root in every rural household. We do not just serve communities — we believe in them.

Our Background

How GBSS Was Born

From a group of inspired young graduates to a nationally recognized NGO — our journey is rooted in truth, service, and unwavering commitment to rural India.

2018
The Seeds Are Sown
During the Government of India Summer Internship Programme, young graduates from Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute, Ranchi began working in villages — focusing on clean surroundings, mindset transformation, and behavioral change. They earned the first prize at university level and, more importantly, the trust of villagers.

2019
GBSS Is Formally Founded
On 23rd November 2019, the collective effort was formally united under the name “Gramin Bharti Sewa Sanstha (GBSS)” with the slogan “Hamara Prayas, Gramin Vikas” — Our Effort, Rural Development. By linking Swachhta Abhiyan with agricultural production — converting waste into organic manure — they showcased an integrated model of cleanliness, sustainability, and improved farm productivity.

Formally Registered & Nationally Recognised
GBSS was registered under the Societies Registration Act 21 of 1860. During the COVID-19 pandemic, GBSS rose to the challenge — earning the Service Honor 2020 from the All India Small and Medium Journalists Welfare Association and being named Young NGO of the Year 2020 by NGO Story for pandemic-era empowerment work.

Scaling Rural Impact Across Jharkhand
GBSS has expanded its reach across 8 districts of Jharkhand, with 250+ students enrolled in night schools, 2,000+ households in nutrition garden programmes, 711+ women trained in entrepreneurship, and 170+ volunteers actively serving rural communities. Registered with NITI Aayog (JH/2021/0275369) and CSR-1 certified (CSR00046776).
