When Environment Meets
Economic Opportunity

♻️ Swachata Model

The “Swachata” Livelihood Model at Hundru Fall

📍 Hundru Fall, Jharkhand

At the iconic Hundru Waterfall — one of Jharkhand’s most visited tourist destinations — GBSS demonstrated how environmental stewardship and economic opportunity can go hand in hand. By implementing a community-led waste management system at the fall, we transformed a conservation challenge into a livelihood opportunity.

Local women were empowered to produce and sell pattal (leaf plates) and dona — generating sustainable income while keeping the site clean. Nature protected. Livelihoods created. Communities empowered.
