Azim Premji University, 27 July 2024 – The latest Higher Education Mentorship Program (HEMP) Mentor-Mentee meeting at Azim Premji University witnessed a productive and engaging session, bringing together seasoned mentors from Gramin Bharti and the newly admitted students of the M.A. Development program. This year’s mentors included Vimal, Akansha, Varsha, Anil, Sudhanshu, and Saikat, while the mentee group comprised Ranjit, Saptam, Nikita, Bidisha, and Paban.
The meeting centered on familiarizing students with their courses, field practices, and various engagement opportunities within the university.
Course Overview and Instructors
The session kicked off with a comprehensive overview of the M.A. Development program. Esteemed instructors were introduced, each poised to guide the students through their academic journey. Introduction to University Cells
Several key university cells were introduced, each playing a crucial role in student engagement:
- Community Engagement Cell: Vimal presented the “Farmer Market in Campus” initiative, a sustainable project that brings fresh produce directly from farmers to the university community.
- Social Entrepreneurship Cell: Saikat encouraged students to innovate and drive social change through the Social Entrepreneurship Cell.
- Placement Cell: Also introduced by Saikat, this cell supports students’ career aspirations and facilitates job placements, guiding them towards fulfilling professional paths.
Outcomes
The students showed a keen interest in joining the Social Entrepreneurship Cell and participating in sustainability initiatives. The brainstorming session that followed was notably engaging, fostering a spirit of collaboration and enthusiasm among all participants.
